About BEST

Blacktown City is recognised as the sporting capital of Western Sydney. 

To be a sporting and active city was identified as a key strategic direction in the Our Blacktown – Blacktown City Council Community Strategic Plan 2036.  The plan nominated the provision of sporting facilities and the development of strong relationships as a key focus area for building on our culture and history of sporting excellence.

In 2017 the City developed a masterplan to enhance Blacktown International Sports Park over the next 20 years.  The masterplan aims to strengthen the position of Blacktown International Sports Park as destination for sport and health now and for future generations to come.  The first phase of this vision was the development of a centre of training excellence.

Through the creation of BEST and our partnerships with industry, Blacktown City Council is delivering on this strategic direction and masterplan.  The collaboration between education, health, sports medicine, research and high-performance sport is creating a dynamic interchange of ideas that will drive positive health and sporting outcomes for the community.
